Throughout the fall, Learn Fresh staff members around the country have conducted NBA Math Hoops training sessions with enthusiastic math educators and after-school program coordinators. The 2015-16 season has seen tremendous growth for the program, with 21 focus cities now served by Learn Fresh.

New additions to the group include Charlotte, Indianapolis, Phoenix, and a large collection of cities in the Southern US. They join returning markets including Boston, New York, DC, Denver, San Francisco, and Oakland. The NBA Math Hoops program in Cleveland is the longest standing program in the country, entering its third year of existence, and has recently seen tremendous expansion to Cincinnati and other locations in Ohio.

A highlight of the 2015 training sessions was a 2.5 week tour of the Southern US, which included stops in Birmingham, Columbia, Huntsville, Indianapolis, Jackson, Lexington, Little Rock, Montogomery, and Mobile. In total, over 100 new sites were added to the Math Hoops community during the trip. Sessions from the tour contributed to a national total of 24 training events held in the months of August, September, and October.

Educators and students are now busy at work, implementing the Math Hoops board game and newly developed currriculum. The Math Hoops season officially launched during the first week in October and will run until the beginning of March. During that time, thousands of students will earn prizes and incentives for their participation in the program, and hundreds more will have the opportunity to interact directly with NBA players at events sponsored by team partners. The NBA Math Hoops event season kicks off on December 9, with the Denver Nuggets.
